The Constitutional Court of Latvia began to consider a new case & laquo; on Russian language & raquo;
The Constitutional Court (Satversme) of Latvia began to consider a case on prohibition of higher education in Russian. About it on April 24 writes the portal LSM. Journalists recall that in the previous language case, the Satversme Court recognized the prohibition of Russian education within the framework of secondary school. Thus, as of September 1, 2020, Russian will be outlawed in schools in Latvia. We are talking about a 20-year period in the education system, during which the transition to the use of only the state (Latvian) language was purposefully and gradually carried out. The purpose of the reform is the protection of the Latvian language, recorded in many normative acts and political documents, said at the court session the representative of the Seimas (Parliament), juror lawyer Sandis Bertainis. It is noted that the court session took place remotely. Before a decision is taken, several more sessions will take place.
