US and EU bishops pray for the success of US-Russian negotiations - Stanislav Stremidlovsky

Pope Francis thanked doctors and priests from Northern Italy, reports Vatican News (Vatican). The pontiff received a delegation consisting of the President of Lombardy, representatives of civil authorities, bishops, priests, monks and health workers working on the front lines of the fight against coronavirus. Francis warmly welcomed the guests and, noting the contribution of civil and church organizations to the confrontation against the pandemic, emphasized the heroic service of doctors and nurses: They have become a visible, heart-warming symbol of humanity. Many of them became ill, and some, unfortunately, died while performing professional duties. We remember them in prayer with great gratitude. Medical workers, Papa noted, with the support of hospital chaplains, witnessed God's proximity to the suffering. They became guardian angels for their patients, selfless professionals, donors of hope, silent artisans of a culture of intimacy and tenderness, comforters on the last path, one of the pillars for the whole country. Now is the time to appreciate all this positive energy that has been invested. Addressing the priests, the pontiff emphasized: I admire the apostolic spirit of many priests who remained close to their people, taking care of them daily: they were a sign of God's comforting presence. Unfortunately, many of them died. Among you there are priests who have fallen ill and, thank God, healed. In your person, I thank all Italian clergy who have shown courage and love for the people.
